Terms of Service
1. Who we are and what these terms cover
Cofelt is a cosmic social network with an AI reflection feature called Ask. The product, its interface, Ask, Xarvos, and all content are provided in English. We accept members from anywhere our payment processor operates.
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a binding contract between you and the company that operates Cofelt, referred to here as "Cofelt," "we," "us," or "our".
- Operator: Cofelt.
- General contact: Cofelt support.
By creating an account on Cofelt, accessing the Cofelt website, or using the Cofelt mobile app, you agree to these Terms and to the Cofelt Privacy Policy, which is incorporated here by reference. Please read them together. If you do not agree, you must not use the service.
If we make a material change, we will give you advance notice as described in section 16.
2. Eligibility and accounts
Age: 18 and over
You must be at least 18 years old to create a Cofelt account. Cofelt involves payments and reflective, emotionally attuned AI content, so it is an adults-only service. We do not knowingly allow anyone under 18 to use the service. We require a birth date and use it to enforce the age requirement before an account can continue into the adults-only service. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we will close it and delete the associated personal data, except where a record must be kept for a legal or safety reason described in the Privacy Policy. If you believe a child is using Cofelt, contact Cofelt support.
Account integrity
- One account per person.
- The information you provide must be your own and accurate.
- Phone verification is planned as an anti-impersonation check, but SMS delivery is not currently configured. It is not a working recovery method or user two-factor authentication path. Some features may also ask you to complete an optional birth-date verification, which an identity-verification provider performs by checking a government-issued ID. We do not collect any biometric data, as described in the Privacy Policy.
- Religion and cultural community are optional private fields. If you choose to enter them, they are never shown to other members or exposed as Network filters. You can edit or clear your own values.
Entering another person's birth data
Cofelt lets you start a With reading using another person's birth date, time, and place. If you do this, you represent and confirm that:
- you have that person's consent, or another lawful basis, to enter their birth details and to generate a reading about them; and
- you agree not to enter the data of anyone under 18, of any public figure you have no relationship with, or of anyone who has asked you not to.
Where the other person is identifiable, our Privacy Policy explains how we handle their data and how they can contact us at Cofelt privacy team to exercise their rights. You are responsible for the third-party data you choose to enter.
Birth data integrity and accuracy
- Date of birth is immutable once set.
- Time of birth is editable up to 3 times, after which it locks. This limits repeated changes to a core calculation input.
- Place of birth is editable subject to anti-abuse limits.
Your results are only as accurate as the birth data you provide. Many parts of a chart, including the horizon point and chart sectors, are highly sensitive to your exact time of birth, and even a few minutes can change them. Please enter your date, time, and place of birth as precisely as you can. Cofelt is not responsible for results produced from inaccurate, approximate, or estimated birth data.
Account security
- You are responsible for keeping your password secret and for activity on your account.
- Tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access: Cofelt support.
3. The service, Ask, and Xarvos
Cofelt lets members build a network, share long-form Echoes, exchange text-only direct messages, write privately, and use Ask for reflection. A calculated birth-sky pattern can provide additional context when a member uses that feature.
Xarvos begins with what you say and, when relevant, can use your calculated pattern and the context you provide. It may explain an interpretive method for you to reflect on. It does not predict the future, promise outcomes, or make guarantees, and it is designed never to tell you to quit your job, leave a relationship, or make a major life decision. If a reading ever does, please flag it with the in-app "Doesn't fit" control or email Cofelt support.
The readings, matches, and safety prompts that Cofelt produces are generated automatically. They are informational and are not a final decision about you, and they do not produce a legal or similarly significant effect on their own. If you believe an automated output has affected you unfairly, you can contact us at Cofelt privacy team to ask for a human to review it, as described in the Privacy Policy.
4. For self-understanding, not professional advice
Cofelt is for self-understanding and reflection. Everything it produces, including pattern readings, relationship context in With, and Ask conversations, is provided for personal, informational purposes only.
Cofelt is not, and is not a substitute for:
- Medical, psychiatric, or psychological care. Nothing here diagnoses, treats, or manages any condition. Ask is not a therapist, a counselor, or a clinician. Consult a licensed professional for health concerns.
- Legal advice. Consult a qualified lawyer.
- Financial advice. Consult a qualified financial advisor.
- A prediction service. We apply a classical interpretive framework to the pattern of your birth sky. We do not tell your future or guarantee any result. Your life is shaped by countless factors we cannot model.
- A matchmaking guarantee. Relationship context in With is interpretive, not prescriptive, and is not a promise about any relationship.
Never delay or disregard advice from a qualified professional because of something you read on Cofelt. If you have a medical or mental-health concern, speak with a licensed provider.
5. Safety and crisis response
Because conversations with Xarvos can touch difficult and personal subjects, Cofelt runs safety checks on Ask conversations and on incoming direct messages to look for signals such as:
- Self-harm or suicidal thoughts
- Acute mental-health crisis
- Abuse or safety risk
- A credible threat of harm to others
If a crisis signal is detected:
- Cofelt surfaces a crisis hotline matched to your country, shown verbatim (for example the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline in the US, Samaritans on 116 123 in the UK, and country-appropriate services elsewhere).
- Xarvos stops chart commentary and surfaces the hotline first, rather than treating the moment as a reading.
- In a rare case of credible, imminent harm, we may contact emergency services, as explained in the Privacy Policy.
6. Subscriptions, billing, and auto-renewal
Plans
| Plan | Price | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | Browse Home and the network, accept incoming connections, receive direct messages, and reply to up to 3 each day. Ask uses 1 Spark per answer. Some additional actions also use Sparks. |
| Premium Monthly | $9 USD / month | Full compatibility, up to 30 Ask answers per UTC day, and direct messages with your connections without a Spark charge. Ask has a hard 30-answer daily ceiling, and DMs have a 200-message-per-UTC-day safety cap. Any additional Premium features are shown before you subscribe. |
| Premium Annual | $79 USD / year | The same features as Monthly, billed once a year. |
Spark Packs
| Pack | Price | Sparks |
|---|---|---|
| Starter | $5 | 50 |
| Power | $10 | 120 |
| Cosmic | $20 | 300 |
- Spark Packs are one-time purchases.
- Sparks never expire and stack across purchases.
- Sparks are used only inside Cofelt and are non-transferable between accounts.
Currency and tax
- Pricing is in US dollars for all members, with no regional or purchasing-power adjustment.
- VAT, GST, and similar taxes are calculated and added at checkout based on your billing location.
- Your local currency may be shown at checkout for convenience while the underlying charge is in US dollars.
How billing works
- Web payments are processed by Stripe. Mobile in-app purchases are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play. Cofelt never sees or stores your full card number.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period (each month for Monthly, each year for Annual) at the then-current price, until you cancel. We tell you the price, the billing period, and the renewal terms before you buy.
- Your billing provider shows the renewal date and current renewal terms.
- If a web payment fails, we retry on Stripe's standard schedule. After repeated failures the account moves to Lapsed mode, below.
Lapsed mode
When a Premium subscription ends and is not renewed:
- Your account moves to a read-only state, and your existing data is preserved.
- You can still view your own chart, your reading history, and your Spark balance.
- Sparks still work for Ask conversations.
- You cannot send connection requests, post, send new direct messages, or use other paid creation features until you re-subscribe.
- A "Re-subscribe" option remains available.
Where you bought it is where you manage it
On the web, subscriptions are purchased and renewed through Stripe. The mobile app shows your subscription status and links you to manage it. If you purchased through the Apple App Store or Google Play, your subscription is billed and managed there, the store's payment terms apply, and you cancel or request a refund through the store.
7. Cancellation, refunds, and your withdrawal right
Cancelling
- You can cancel anytime. For web subscriptions, go to Settings → Subscription → Manage in Stripe Portal (the Stripe billing portal) and cancel there. For App Store or Google Play subscriptions, cancel through the store. Cancelling is as straightforward as subscribing.
- After you cancel, your Premium access continues until the end of the period you have already paid for, and you are not charged again.
- You can also delete your whole account at any time. See the Privacy Policy for the deletion flow and the 30-day grace period.
Refunds
Cofelt does not offer a self-serve money-back guarantee. The free tier lets you try Cofelt before you subscribe; once you subscribe, you can cancel at any time and your access runs to the end of the period you have paid for.
- If you subscribed through the Apple App Store or Google Play, refund requests are handled by that store under its policies.
- If you subscribed on the web and believe you were charged in error, email Cofelt billing team from your account email and we will review it.
- Sparks and one-time purchases are generally non-refundable once delivered, except where the law requires otherwise.
Your statutory withdrawal and cooling-off rights
If you are a consumer in the European Union, the United Kingdom, or another place that grants a right to withdraw from a distance contract, you normally have a 14-day cooling-off period to cancel a purchase. Cofelt provides digital access immediately, but these Terms do not treat a statutory withdrawal right as waived merely because access has begun. Ask the store that processed the purchase, or contact Cofelt billing team for a web purchase, and we will apply the rules that govern that transaction. These statutory rights, and any other mandatory consumer rights you have where you live, always apply and override anything in these Terms that conflicts with them. Nothing here limits the rights you cannot waive by law.
For a focused summary of how to cancel, refund eligibility, and how to request a refund, see the standalone Refund and Cancellation Policy.
8. Content and conduct rules
Cofelt is a private network where people come for honest connection. You keep ownership of what you create, and you grant us a limited license to host, store, and display your content so we can run the service for you. You are responsible for what you post and send. The following are prohibited:
Harassment and abuse
- Threats of violence, sexual harassment, or stalking
- Targeted harassment of any individual
- Hate speech against protected groups
- Encouraging others to commit harassment
Doxxing and impersonation
- Posting another person's private information, such as a home address, workplace, phone number, or financial details, without consent
- Impersonating another real person, whether alive, deceased, a public figure, or a private individual
- Operating multiple accounts to evade moderation, manipulate matching, or harass
Spam and manipulation
- Sending unsolicited promotional content
- Mass-friending or mass-messaging
- Operating bot accounts
- Using Cofelt to drive traffic to scams, multi-level marketing schemes, or sweepstakes
Fake accounts
- Using AI-generated photos as your profile picture
- Submitting fabricated birth data for a person who does not exist
- Operating an account that is not a real human with a real chart
Illegal content
- Anything illegal where you are or where we operate
- Child sexual abuse material, which we remove immediately, report to the authorities, and never tolerate
- Distribution of material you do not have the rights to share
Connection-request abuse
- Sending bulk identical connection requests
- Sending connection requests to harass or expose the recipient
- Using the "match again" feature to repeatedly contact someone who declined you
We may remove content, restrict features, suspend access, or close accounts that break these rules. Where we take action against your account, we aim to give you a reason and a way to respond, as described in section 11.
9. Connection requests and Spark refunds
When you send a connection request as a free member, it costs Sparks:
- The recipient can accept or decline at any time. Accepting forms the connection; a pending request does not auto-expire after 7 days.
- If the recipient declines within 7 days, the Sparks are automatically returned to your balance.
- A later decline does not trigger that refund. If the recipient does not respond, the request remains pending and the Sparks stay spent until the request is otherwise resolved.
If you repeatedly send connection requests that are declined or reported as abusive, we may rate-limit your sending or review your account under section 11.
Premium members can send connection requests without spending Sparks, but the same abuse-prevention limits apply.
10. Your data, privacy, and consents
How we collect and use your personal data is described in full in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of your agreement with us. In short:
- We use third-party processors to run the service, including Stripe for payments, an email delivery provider, a geocoding provider to turn your birth city into coordinates, an error-monitoring provider, and our cloud host. Ask runs on Cofelt's own hardware, with a rare emergency fallback to an external AI provider.
- We do not sell your personal data or use it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We share data only with the processors listed in the Privacy Policy, and only to provide the service.
- You can export your data and request deletion from inside the app. Deletion has a 30-day grace period, after which data is permanently removed, except for limited records we must keep for safety or legal reasons, such as crisis-detection records, which are described in the Privacy Policy.
Birth-derived calculations, Ask content, and optional religion or cultural-community information can be sensitive. The current product does not provide one separate, all-purpose in-app consent switch for those core calculations and inferences. Optional religion and community values are processed only when you choose to enter them, remain private, and can be cleared. Where the law requires separate consent for a specific optional purpose, we will ask before activating that purpose; any consent control shown in the app applies only to the purpose it names.
Data requests: Cofelt privacy team.
11. Suspension, appeals, and complaints
If we believe you have broken these Terms, we may, depending on the situation:
- Send a warning by email and in the app
- Restrict specific features, such as the ability to send direct messages
- Temporarily suspend the account
- Permanently close the account
If we take action against your account and you think we got it wrong, email Cofelt support from your account email. Include any case reference from our notification and explain what happened. We aim to review within 7 business days. For severe violations, such as credible threats, child sexual abuse material, or other illegal content, there is no appeal. If we suspended your account in error and a refund is appropriate, we will refund the affected period.
You can also raise a complaint about how we handle your personal data by writing to Cofelt privacy team. We acknowledge data-protection complaints within 30 days and respond without undue delay. Your right to complain to a regulator, described in the Privacy Policy, is unaffected.
12. Termination
You may close your account at any time from Settings, then Delete account.
We may suspend or close your account if:
- You materially break these Terms
- You repeatedly break minor rules after a warning
- Your account is inactive for an extended period, such as 24 months or more, after we notify you and give you 30 days to log in
- A legal obligation requires it
- We reasonably conclude that continued service exposes others to harm
If we end the service for a reason that is not a violation by you, such as long inactivity or a business wind-down, we will give 30 days' notice and refund any prepaid, unused period where appropriate. On closure, your data is handled as described in the Privacy Policy, including the 30-day grace period.
13. Disclaimers and liability
Service provided "as is"
To the maximum extent allowed by law, the service is provided "as is" and "as available", and:
- we make no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement;
- we do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components;
- readings are interpretive, and we do not warrant their accuracy or predictive value; and
- we are not responsible for the conduct of other members or the content they post or send.
Limit on our liability
To the maximum extent allowed by law:
- our total liability to you for any claim relating to these Terms or the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid Cofelt in the 12 months before the claim or $100 US dollars; and
- we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, including lost profits, lost data, lost goodwill, or business interruption.
What we never exclude
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law. This includes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, and any non-waivable rights or statutory guarantees you have as a consumer. Some places do not allow certain warranty or liability exclusions, and in those places the provisions above apply only as far as the law permits.
14. Resolving disputes
Talk to us first
If you have a dispute, please contact Cofelt support first so we can try to resolve it directly. Most issues can be sorted out this way.
If we cannot resolve it informally
If a dispute is not resolved within 30 days, it will be handled by the courts identified under the governing law in section 15.
Your protected rights
Nothing in this section affects rights you cannot waive. If you are a consumer in the European Union, the United Kingdom, or another place whose law protects you, you keep the right to bring proceedings in the courts of your home country, and any mandatory consumer protections apply regardless of what this section says. You may also use any official online or alternative dispute-resolution scheme available where you live.
15. Governing law and venue
These Terms, and any dispute arising out of them or the service, are governed by the laws of India, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. The courts of Bengaluru, Karnataka, India will have jurisdiction, subject to the protections below. Nothing in this section limits the mandatory consumer-protection rights you have under the laws of your own country of residence.
If you are a consumer, this choice of law and venue does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer-protection rules of the country where you live, and where those rules give you greater protection, they apply. In particular, consumers in the European Union and the United Kingdom may rely on the law of, and bring claims in the courts of, their country of residence.
16. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time.
For material changes, meaning anything that affects your rights, your financial obligations, or the conduct rules:
- we will email you at least 30 days before the change takes effect;
- we will show an in-app notice; and
- if you do not accept the change, you can cancel and delete your account at any time without penalty.
For non-material changes, such as typo fixes, clarifications, or formatting, we will update the "Last updated" date without separate notice.
Continued use of Cofelt after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.
17. Other terms
Entire agreement
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any product-specific notices we show at the point of purchase, form the entire agreement between you and Cofelt about the service.
Severability
If any part of these Terms is found invalid or unenforceable, the rest stays in force.
No waiver
If we do not enforce a provision, that is not a waiver of our right to enforce it later.
Assignment
You may not transfer your rights under these Terms. We may transfer them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, on notice to you, and your rights as a consumer are unaffected.
Force majeure
We are not liable for failures or delays caused by events beyond our reasonable control, such as natural disasters, war, government action, or internet outages.
Headings and survival
Section headings are for convenience only. Sections that by their nature should continue after your account ends, including sections 4, 10, 13, 14, 15, and 17, survive termination.
