DMs are protected in transit in production and by storage security and access controls on our systems. They are not end-to-end encrypted.
Not end-to-end means Cofelt, as the service operator, has the technical ability to access message content on its infrastructure for legitimate operational purposes such as investigating a reported conversation or meeting a legal obligation. Do not use Cofelt DMs for secrets that require end-to-end encryption.
If you need an end-to-end encrypted conversation, use a service designed for that purpose. Cofelt DMs are private social messages, not a substitute for an end-to-end encrypted messenger.
