Settings → Account → Delete my account starts a deletion request. It is not an immediate account teardown.
What happens after you request deletion:
- Cofelt records the request and holds a 30-day processing window during which the request can be cancelled
- The account may remain usable until the deletion job runs; requesting deletion does not itself hide the profile, dissolve connections, stop AI calls, or cancel billing immediately
- Cancel subscription renewal separately through the billing provider if you do not want another renewal during that window
- After the 30-day window, the deletion job removes the account data covered by the normal deletion process from primary systems and the unused Spark balance is forfeited
Limited records may be retained after account deletion when needed for legal or safety reasons, including:
- Payment records (for tax purposes, usually 7 years per jurisdiction)
- Crisis, security, moderation, or other safety-relevant records, kept for the applicable safety or legal period
If you change your mind during the 30-day window, use the cancellation path offered in the app or email [email protected]. After the deletion job runs, the account cannot be restored; backup copies expire on their normal rolling schedule.
If you just want to stop renewal, cancelling keeps your account and data intact. After the paid period ends, the account enters lapsed, read-only mode. Deletion removes the account entirely and cannot be undone.
