Your Cofelt ID is a unique, shareable handle. It lets someone request a connection without making your name publicly searchable.
What a Cofelt ID is
A Cofelt ID is your public @handle across the network (for example, @quietorbit), similar to a username on another social app. Cofelt assigns one without using your name, email, or birth details. It is the thing you hand out when you want someone to find you, and the thing they enter to send a connection request.
You can find your own Cofelt ID on your profile. Share it anywhere you like: in a bio, in a message, or on a card. Members with verified email and an active paid entitlement can customize it when eligible. Changes are limited to once every 30 days. The previous handle redirects to the same privacy-checked profile and stays reserved for 90 days. The profile editor shows availability and the next change date. If the entitlement ends, your existing handle remains valid. Your permanent internal account ID does not change. Sharing a Cofelt ID does not give anyone access to your account; it only lets them send you a request, which you are always free to accept or decline.
How to find people
People can enter your view through several paths.
- By Cofelt ID. If you already know someone, ask for their Cofelt ID or share yours. Enter it in the connect flow, send a request, and they accept or decline. Once connected, you can open With privately and message each other.
- Through recommendations. Cofelt can suggest people through relationship context and the settings you choose. A suggestion is not a public score or a decision.
- Through the network. Mutual connections and thoughtful conversations can create a human path to someone new.
The privacy stance
This is what Cofelt adds around a familiar social handle:
- There is no public name search. People can reach you only through permitted paths that respect your privacy settings.
- A Cofelt ID requests a connection, it does not grant one. Every request waits for your yes. You can leave it pending, decline it, or accept it. You can block or remove anyone in a tap.
- Private signals stay private. The background you bring is used quietly to weight who fits you well. It is never shown as a filter, never used as a label, and never exposed to anyone.
So you stay in control of who finds you and who gets in. Your handle helps people reach your permitted profile; it does not bypass its privacy settings.
