It is the account-age step in profile readiness: 14 calendar days must pass after signup before you become eligible for broader network recommendations.
The phrase "grace period" undersells it. It's not punishment. It builds a record of real presence. Fourteen days filters out accounts that sign up and vanish before others have a chance to encounter them.
During those 14 days you can browse Home and Network, accept connection requests that reach you through permitted paths, and use Ask within your plan's current limits. You cannot appear in broader network recommendations. Free members cannot initiate a connection request during the wait; Premium members can under the current Premium permission rules.
Why 14 days? It is long enough to filter out signup-and-vanish accounts while giving a real member time to complete their profile and understand the network.
The 14-day timer uses calendar days from signup; it does not pause when you are away. You can complete the other requirements at your own pace, and discoverability unlocks only after all of them are satisfied.
